Four artistic perspectives come together at étage 19: Anna Badina, Floyd Grimm, Frédéric Graf and Sygrid von Gunten. From Anna Badina’s narrative illustrations, through Floyd Grimm’s intuitive, figurative-fantastical paintings, to Sygrid von Gunten’s process-oriented works with materials and canvas, the group exhibition covers a wide spectrum; Frédéric Graf complements it with a perspective rooted in the Biel art scene. At the opening on 25 June 2026 and the closing event on 28 June 2026 (6.00 pm), Strotter & Rotzler will perform a concert for prepared turntable and double bass.

Anna Badina
Anna Badina

Anna Badina is an illustrator and graphic designer from Biel/Bienne. She trained at the School of Design in Biel and Bern and works as a designer for, amongst others, atelier oi. Her practice combines illustration, graphic design and storytelling; her work is characterised by hand-drawn pieces in ink. Her projects range from book and publication design to contributions to design platforms and exhibitions.

At étage 19, Anna Badina showcases her illustrative and graphic style – hand-drawn works that straddle the line between storytelling and design, and which form the narrative core of the group of four.

Floyd Grimm
Floyd Grimm

Floyd Grimm is an artist based in Biel/Bienne. His intuitively created paintings give rise to idiosyncratic visual worlds featuring distorted, vaguely humanoid figures, and oscillate between dreams, the unconscious and hallucinatory visions. Grimm was represented at the Cantonale Berne Jura in Pasquart in 2020 and was awarded the Prix Kunstverein by the Kunstverein Biel in 2023. In 2025, he created a series of new creatures for the Espace Libre programme, which were displayed as posters on advertising hoardings in public spaces across Biel.

Floyd Grimm brings a painterly, figurative-fantastical perspective to the exhibition – idiosyncratic creatures and distorted figures that span his visual world between the imagination and the unconscious.

Frédéric Graf
Frédéric Graf

Frederic Graf is active within the Biel art scene and is documented, amongst other things, in connection with the Centre PasquART Foundation and Visarte. He features regularly in regional exhibitions in the Biel/Bienne area.

Frederic Graf is taking part in the E19 group exhibition in June 2026. His new works, created using a watercolour technique, are entitled *Horizont Nuit*.

Sygrid von Gunten
Sygrid von Gunten

Sygrid von Gunten, born in Germany in 1948, has lived in the Biel/Bienne region since 1970. She works in painting, sculpture/object art and textile art. Her work is characterised by a process-oriented approach to materials: for example, she shreds invitation cards to create objects, or cuts up and weaves together painted canvases. She is known for her series *Bluetenrausch*, which focuses not on realistic representation but on creating from the memory of what she has seen. Her studio is in Biel/Bienne; she has exhibited at the Cantonale Berne Jura and in various regional exhibitions, amongst others.

Sygrid von Gunten brings a painterly perspective to the group exhibition – works that straddle the boundaries between canvas, object and material, in which memory and process-driven transformation become visible.

Strotter Rotzler
Strotter Rotzler

Strotter & Rotzler is a duo comprising a modified turntable and a double bass. Strotter Inst. is the project of Christoph Hess (Bern), who has been manipulating old, modified Lenco turntables in various ways since 1999 – using rubber bands, adhesive tape and electrical pulses to create rhythmic sound textures. Hess, a qualified architect, was awarded the Canton of Bern’s Music Prize in 2016. Sebastian Rotzler plays the double bass. Together, they treat their instruments as bodies and objects, creating a trance-like auditory flow of rotations and friction.

At the opening on 25 June 2026 and the closing event on 28 June 2026 (6.00 pm), Strotter & Rotzler – playing a modified turntable and double bass – will perform a hypnotic stream of sound created by rotation and friction.
